Le Moulin L’Évêque is a 13th century former grain watermill – believed to have been a stopping off point for pilgrims on the Camino St Jacques (aka el camino de compostella Santiago) and can be dated back to 1308 when King Phillipe V lived nearby.
We are 8 miles (13km) from historic Vire with its many sports facilities, museums and shopping. The Calvados region of Normandy is ideal for rambling, fishing, back-to-nature, family holidays. The banks of the River Vire are perfect for peaceful walks, fishing, renewal and rejuvenation. Within easy reach of many of the fabulous Normandy and Brittany beaches, the Medieval town of Bayeux and charming fishing village Honfleur and millionaires’ Deauville. Historic towns such as Mont St Michel, Flers. Parks, chateaux, shops, markets, golf courses, horse riding, fishing and sailing are all local. Campeaux is a great launching pad for exploring the Calvados and Normandy region. The Vire Valley offers a landscape of rolling hills and occasional gorges, local cider and of course its Calvados. Only 7 minutes away from the A84 autoroute which connects all of the northern France autoroutes with each other.
The hosts live here and will be here to welcome you on arrival. No keys under the flower pot. We are available in the evenings to have a sociable glass of wine and offer advice on places to visit, having had eleven years’ experience of the area. On the other hand, you would not even notice us at all if you require no guidance.
